TWINKIE :(

Even though the Twinkie is mighty delicious, it is really bad for your health! A single Twinkie had 150 calories and the Twinkie is not very big in size. They now have 100 calorie packs of snacks that are much more worth wild than a single Twinkie. The fat value is 4.5 grams of fat and that is a lot for one. Even though, for example the HO HO is about the same, its package comes in threes so most people would eat all of them in one sitting and their calories are 380. So even if the Twinkie has a lot of downsides, it is not the unhealthiest snack out there. So the point is that Twinkies are good for a once in a while snack but not an everyday things. Try to substitute it for something healthy like granola or cereal. Especially for kids, eating healthier is the key to be more energized and playful. The kids nowadays have a problem with weight and these snacks are the problem. So, parents can help by giving their children better snacks like those.

MORE LUNCHES!

Like my other post, there has been a heavy debate about which one (bagged lunch or school lunch) is better involving money and health. Many articles say the combination of the both are the best way to go because it would make variety for the kids and it would be less money on the parents. The school lunch provides children a meal that contains approximately one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) of nutrients. And when parents try to make a healthy meal for their child, they do not always accomplish what the school lunch can. With a parent’s opinion, Jamie Oliver has a blog for moms to talk about their kids and what they do. In one of the forums, the moms got into a discussion on homemade vs. store bought, even though it does not involve the school, it is the same concept. Many parents agree that homemade are so much better because they know exactly what their child is eating at all times. In all, school vs. homemade lunches has their positives and negatives but the best thing is to eat both in variety, some school lunches and then some bagged lunches. And with store vs. homemade food, the homemade food is the winner for moms.

the many ways of the twinkie and the average lunch

The twinkie has many talents. It can be eaten the normal way or it could be deep fried! I have personally tried the deep friend ones and let me say that they are pretty delicious. The must have a million calories because a normal twinkie has a lot as is. The children of this generation are getting use to eating fatty foods all the time ex. the twinkie. Most parents believe since they make their child's lunch that it is healthier for them than the school lunch. What they don't know that the school has a set of meals already planned to be healthy and have all the nessacary food group in it. A homemade lunch typically has a sandwich and soda and some snacks. First the soda is unhealthy and it should be a juice and then the snack are fatty like twinkies or candy. But obesity has been a problem with children so parents should be aware of this. But even though health is a big part of lunches, money comes in play when deciding how much food to buy for them and whichone is more economical.

HISTORY OF THE TWINKIE!!!!!!

The twinkie is one of Americia's favorite anytime snack. Most people don't know where the twinkie originally came from. It came from the Hostess factory in Indianpolis in 1933. James Dewar was one of the bakers to invent the twinkie. He came up with the name when driving by a billboard that had an ad for shoes from the "Twinkle Toe Shoe Company". He liked it and shortened the name to "twinkies". At first, twinkies were filled with bananas but when the bananas were rationed in World War II, they switched to vanilla cream filling. After some time in the 50's, the twinkie gained more popularity when hostess came up with the character Twinkie the kid to support the howdy doody show. The myth has it that twinkies can last forever but in fact their legit shelf life is only 25 days. People think that it can last through a nuclear war because the twinkie does not rot but if someone eats a 20 year old twinkie, I do not think it would be appetizing. The White House put a Twinkie in their time capsule for the new millennium, as “an object of enduring American symbolism.” If that doesn't scream America's fat, i don't know anything that could top that.
